What is a Boudoir?

Foi utilizado pela primeira vez 1781,  Boudoir era tipicamente um espaço privado que todas as mulheres de respeito tinham, um espaço onde podiam estar sozinhas. Este era o seu espaço, podia ser um quarto, um quarto de vestir ou uma casa-de-banho, ou uma combinação dos três. No Boudoir as mulheres desenvolviam a curiosidade e entretinham as suas amigas e apaixonados. Este quarto sedutor estava normalmente trancado e estava decorado com mobílias requintadas e de bom gosto.  O Boudoir era o espaço restrito da mulher, onde os outros só poderiam entrar com convite da mesma.

"In the romanticism or eras gone by, a boudoir typically was the space every self respecting lady had. It was her private room of alluring intrigue, either a bedroom, sitting room, dressing room or bathing room. Maybe a combination of all those rooms. The boudoir was where she aroused curiosity and entertained intimate friends and lovers. This seductive and sensual room often had locked doors and was filled stylishly with opulent furniture. A boudoir was a woman's confidential space which other people could only enter by invitation" 

A palavra Boudoir vem do verbo Francês bouder, que significa "estar de mau humor". Assim , uma mulher que se sentisse mal disposta ou indisposta podia-se retirar para o seu Boudoir até se sentir melhor. Era, também um espaço onde ela cuidava de si e se mimava. A decoração tradicional do Boudoir estava focada no Renascimento e nos quartos de estilo francês. 

"The word Boudoir comes from the French verb bouder, which means "to pout" or to "to sulk". Thus, a woman who was feeling sulky or indisposed could retire to her boudoir or "sulking room" until she felt in a better disposition. It was also a place where she retreated to and nurtured herself as some boudoirs were also fitted out with elegant bathing vessels and opulent chandeliers, mirrors and sensuous furs. The traditional decor style of a boudoir was tended to focus on Renaissance and French inspired bedroom styles. In recent times it has also been used to describe the country cottage style with whitewashed-style walls, large and heavy bed furniture, and deep bedding" 

Assim, este blog será exactamente isso, um espaço selectivo de bom gosto. Um espaço que irá reflectir quem eu sou, um espaço que exprima o meu estilo de vida mas que ao mesmo tempo o conjugue com o meu intelecto. É como se tivesse uma licença para brincar, uma licença para explorar a arte, a fotografia, para viajar, para pensar.. mas sempre com muito glamour e sofisticação!

So, this blog is just that, a selective place with good taste. A place that should reflect who I am intimately, a place that allows my lifestyle essence to shine, but at the same reveals my intellect. In this place I have complete creative licence to play - from art to photography, from travel to thoughts... but always with glamour and taste!
